This is an example of a SCAPS LIF fluorescence versus depth
(FVD) plot at a site that had coal tar and gasoline contamination. The CPT
also was able to provide stratigraphy data as well, as is indicated on the
left side of the figure. Contamination is detected by increased fluorescence,
as illustrated in the second plot between 10 and 15 feet and again at 30 feet,
below ground surface (bgs). The third plot is a log plot of the second. The
changes in peak wavelength shown in the fourth plot indicate different types
of contamination (gasoline rather than coal tar).
