Marlena (Marty) Brewer works for the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Contaminates Sites Program (CS) as a technical lead in the areas of human health and ecological risk assessment in Anchorage, Alaska. She has worked for ADEC since 2006 and provides technical assistance to CS staff and the regulated community to ensure that site remediation is implemented in accordance with regulations, department policy, guidance documents, and appropriate science. She also aids in regulatory development and implementation to include development of regulatory policy, calculation of risk based cleanup levels, development of technical guidance documents, analytical data quality review, and technical review of environmental work plans and reports. Her professional work experience also includes biomolecular research, environmental sample analyses, and private consulting. She is a member of the ITRC Risk Assessment Resources team. Marty earned a bachelor's degree in biology from University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in Conway, Arkansas in 1995 and a master's degree in Occupational and Environmental Health from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1997.
