Mark A. Maddaloni has been employed as an EPA Region 2 toxicologist since 1991 and currently holds the position of Regional Risk Assessment Coordinator in the Office of the Regional Administrator. His responsibilities include coordinating site-specific risk assessments and providing consultation on toxicological matters of interest to EPA Region 2 programs. Dr. Maddaloni sits on EPA national workgroups tasked with developing Agency guidance for dermal risk assessment and chemical mixtures. He has specific expertise in lead risk assessment, having chaired a sub-committee of EPA's Technical Review Workgroup (TRW) for Lead that developed a methodology for assessing the hazards of soil-borne lead in adult populations. In addition, he has served as a rotating co-chair for the EPAÕs Lead, Asbestos and Bioavailability Technical Review Workgroups. Dr. Maddaloni has played a key role in identifying indicator chemicals of concern and developing health-based benchmarks for the environmental assessment of the World Trade Center (WTC) disaster.
Prior to his employment at the EPA, Mark Maddaloni served as a clinical toxicologist at the New York City Poison Control Center, where his area of expertise was environmental/occupational exposures. He currently serves on the New York City Department of Healths Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental ProtectionÕs Science Advisory Board. Dr. Maddaloni is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology and a member of the Society of Toxicology.
Mark Maddaloni received his Dr. P.H. in Environmental Health Sciences from Columbia University in 1998. His thesis is titled: Measurement of Soil-Borne Lead Bioavailability in Adults, and its Application in Biokinetic Modeling. Dr. Maddaloni received his M.S. in Toxicology from St. Johns University and his B.S. in Pharmacy from Long Island University.
