Dr. Shine is currently an Assistant Professor of Aquatic Chemistry in the Department of Environmental Health at the Harvard School of Public Health. His area of expertise is the study of contaminant transport, effects, and ultimate fate in aquatic ecosystems. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts/Boston in 1994 in Marine Chemistry. He has since worked with colleagues at the Harvard School of Public Health, with the goal of using an informed knowledge of the environmental transport and fate of contaminants to help environmental decision makers develop strategies protective of both human and ecological health. In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Shine is also the director of Harvard's Program in Water and Health, a student-centered program designed to foster interdisciplinary basic and applied research in Water and Health.
