2005 Third International Phytotechnologies Conference, April 20-22, 2005
2005

This conference will present the state of science and engineering development in phytotechnologies worldwide. More specifically, the purpose of this conference is to understand which technologies using plants are currently effective, how best to integrate research science and field applications, and what questions need further research.

Designing, Building, & Regulating Evapotranspiration (ET) Landfill Covers, March 9-10, 2004
2004

This Remediation Technologies Development Forum (RTDF) meeting discussed the state of development of evapotranspiration (ET) landfill cover systems and focus on the design, construction, and regulation of such systems.

Innovative Treatment Technologies Course
CERCLA Education Center (CEC).

3-Day Course or 1-Day short course. The in-depth, three-day course offered by the CERCLA Education Center (CEC) provides information about technical, financial, and practical factors to be considered when determining the appropriateness of innovative treatment technologies for application in various cleanup projects. The one-day course provides a comprehensive overview of a number of innovative technologies, including bioremediation (various types), soil vapor extraction enhancements, thermal desorption, soil washing, air sparging, passive treatment walls, base-catalyzed dechlorination, surfactant flushing, and thermally enhanced extraction. Visit the TRAINING EXCHANGE web site for schedules and locations.

International Applied Phytotechnologies Conference
2003

The U.S. EPA, in cooperation with Environment Canada and the Midwest Hazardous Substance Research Center presented a conference on current research to identify and optimize plant capability to reduce risk and enhance environmental benefit. This conference was designed to provide site managers, contractors, and consultants with up-to-date technical information, and to assist professionals in the regulatory community who oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of sites that use phytotechnology. Information on international efforts was also provided by speakers from Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America.

Low-Cost Remediation Strategies for Contaminated Soil and Ground Water

Technologies to be covered in this course include natural attenuation, enhanced bioremediation, air sparging, and phytoremediation for remediation of contaminated ground water; bioventing for remediation of contaminated soil; and bioslurping for removal of light nonaqueous-phase liquid. Dates and locations are subject to change. For details, please visit the web site and click on Education. Or call (800) 551-7379 or (614) 898-7791, or FAX (614) 898-7786.
