Jack Dowden has served as an Area Director in Waste Management Inc.'s Closed Site Management Program since 1998. In this capacity, Jack has overall responsibility for 36 closed landfills that span Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, and the Dakotas. In addition, Jack represents Waste Management's interest as a potentially responsible party (PRP) on seven active Superfund sites. Within this portfolio, Waste Management operates seven landfill gas-to-energy (LFGTE) electric projects and two alternative energy projects. Two of the electric projects are among the oldest and longest-continuing operating LFGTE plants in the United States.

Prior to assuming his current position with Waste Management, Jack worked for 17 years in the environmental consulting and solid waste management industry, specializing in groundwater investigations, site remediation, and large-project siting and permitting. During the course of Jack's professional career, he has been involved, as lead investigator, project manager, or PRP representative on over 50 Superfund or RCRA corrective action projects.

Jack earned a B.S. degree in Earth Science from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and an M.S. in Hydrogeology from the University of Nevada-Reno. Jack has previously served as a school board president, and director for a lake conservation district in his home state of Wisconsin.
