In July, EPA's Superfund Redevelopment Initiative (SRI) conducted a webinar discussing how reuse at capped Superfund sites can provide long-term benefits for the local community, the local government, site owners and even EPA. Presenters emphasized that through coordination with regulatory agencies and effective planning, site stakeholders could return sites to productive use without jeopardizing the effectiveness of a remedial cap. SRI witnessed an overwhelming response to July's presentations and received numerous requests for more information about reuse on capped sites. In response, this webinar will provide additional information with in-depth case studies about reuse on two capped Superfund sites: Davie Landfill in Florida and Iron Horse Park in Massachusetts. Participants will hear how these two sites have been restored for public use, recreational use and even alternative energy generation from multiple perspectives including local project pioneers and EPA staff who worked to return these capped areas to reuse.
