Contaminant Search Options

Contaminants
- Specific Contaminants only lists contaminants that are linked to one or more project profiles. Therefore, a search with a single contaminant option as the only criterion will return at least one project profile result. You may select multiple contaminants, which will find project profiles that match one or more of these items, by holding down the Ctrl or Command (Macintosh) key while using the left mouse button.

- General Contaminant Groups only lists contaminant groups that are linked to one or more project profiles. Therefore, a search with a single contaminant group option as the only criterion will return at least one project profile result. Selecting a general contaminant group option will return all project profiles that contain at least one of the contaminants within that group. You may select multiple contaminant groups, which will find project profiles that match one or more of these items, by holding down the Ctrl or Command (Macintosh) key while using the left mouse button. You may also view a full list of contaminant groups and their member contaminants.

Keyword Search Option

- The Keyword(s) option allows you to search for one or more keywords or phrases that may appear within the text of a site profile.
Advanced Search Operators
AND
AND logic operator. Searches for records containing both of the words it separates.
" "
Phrase search operator. Searches for records containing the phrase enclosed in quotes.
OR
OR logic operator. Searches for records containing either of the words it separates.
NOT
NOT logic operator. Searches for records containing the query word preceding it without containing the word following it.
Advanced Search Wildcards
?
Question. Specifies any single alphanumeric character.
*
Asterisk. Specifies zero or more alphanumeric characters. Avoid using the asterisk as the first character in a search string. Asterisk is ignored in a set, [] or an alternative pattern {}
[]
Square brackets. Specifies one of any character in a set, as in "sl[iau]m" which locates "slim," "slam," and "slum." Square brackets indicate an implied OR.
{}
Curly braces. Specifies one of each pattern separated by a comma, as in "hoist{s, ing, ed}" which locates "hoists," "hoisting," and "hoisted." Curly braces indicate an implied AND.
^
Caret. Specifies one of any character not in the set as in "sl[^ia]m" which locates "slum" but not "slim" or "slam."

Hyphen. Specifies a range of characters in a set as in "c[a-r]t" which locates every word beginning with "c," ending with "t," and containing any letter from "a" to "r."

Method
- The Narrow or Broad Method option allows you to search for project profiles by matching all criteria from separate lists (narrow search) or one or more criteria from separate lists (broad search). Please note that selecting more than one item within a single option list will always find project profiles that match one or more of those items, such as 'Cadmium' OR 'Lead'.

Result Set
- The Grouped by Project Profile Collection or Single Result Set option allows you to display search results grouped by source project profile collection, such as 'State Coalition for Remediation of Drycleaners Site Profiles Search Results', or display search results as a single list of project profiles that match your search criteria, regardless of the source project profile collection.
