Introduction

System in the context of this questionnaire includes any 'information system' which is an interconnected set of information resources ... which share common functionality. A system normally includes hardware, software, information, data, applications, communications, and people (OMB A-130, App. III) [but it need not contain all of these elements to be a system]. A system need not be automated, but most instances apply to automated systems (Paraphrased for the 7-2-03 draft of EPA's Life Cycle Management Policy). Examples of headquarters systems include the Contract Laboratory Program Support System (CLPSS), Hazard Ranking System (Superscreen/Quickscore), Institutional Control Tracking System (ICTS), Superfund Document Management System, and the Superfund Records Management Database (SRMD).
