Deana Crumbling works in EPA's Technology Innovation Program, and holds a Bachelors degree in Biochemistry and a Masters in Environmental Science. She has 20 years experience as an analytical chemist in a wide variety of employment situations, and has worked in the hazardous waste arena for 5 years. Within TIP, she focuses on supporting the acceptance of field analytical methods and improving the quality of hazardous site characterization through systematic planning and adequate QA/QC procedures. In these efforts, she coordinates with other EPA Offices, Regions, States, and government agencies to provide scientifically sound guidance and information to encourage defensible site decision-making. She has been assisting with technical aspects of the ETV program and participated in the data evaluation and writing of the PCB Verification Reports.

She is a member of the American Association for the Advancment of Science, the American Chemical Society, the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, and the American Institute of Biological Science. Her personal interests include building citizen participation in the monitoring and maintenance of water quality and biodiversity in stream systems.
