This report provides information about experiences in the use of field analytical and site characterization technologies at contaminated sites drawn from 204 applications. For each technology, information is provided on the reported uses of the technology; including the types of contaminants and media for which the technology was used; reported advantages and limitations of the technology; and cost data when available [December 1997, 80 pages]. Treatment Technology Performance and Cost Data for Remediation of Wood Preserving Sites (EPA 625-R-97-009). This document was developed by the EPA Office of Research and Development to present information on treatment alternatives for soil and groundwater at wood preserving sites. The information available covers ten technologies that have been applied to media containing wood preserving contaminants [October 1997, 157 pages]. Not yet available via Internet. Guide to Technology Commercialization Assistance for EPA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Awardees (EPA 600-F-97-014). This publication was produced by EPA's Office of Research and Development. It describes public and private sources of technical assistance, financial support, and information support to small companies. It was designed to assist SBIR awardees, but most of the information it arrays will assist firms in and outside of the environmental arena [September 1997, 280 pages]. Presumptive Remedy: Supplemental Bulletin, Multi-Phase Extraction Technology for VOCs in Soil and Groundwater (EPA 540-F-97-004). This fact sheet was produced by EPA and the U.S. Air Force to provide an explanation of the technology and explain how to determine if MPE is applicable to your site [April 1997, 11 pages]. Case Studies of Selected States' Voluntary Cleanup/Brownfields Programs. This report was produced by the Interstate Technology Regulatory Cooperation (ITRC) workgroup. It is an in-depth study of selected states' voluntary cleanup/brownfields program. States studied include: California, Colorado, Michigan, New Jersey Oregon and Texas [May 1997, 80 pages]. In-situ Bioremediation Technologies: Protocol Binder and Resource Document. This document was developed by the Interstate Technology and Regulatory Cooperation Work Group in during 1997. This ITRC product facilitates the demonstration of in situ bioremediation (ISB) technologies through cooperative mechanisms among participating states and stakeholders. It captures not only the technical elements of ISB but also the general thinking and experience of members of many state regulatory agencies. Ground Water Currents newsletter (EPA 542-N-97-006). This newsletter provides information on innovative groundwater treatment technologies including development and demonstrations, new regulations, and conferences and publications. Centerpoint, Volume 4, Number 1. Centerpoint is a periodic newsletter from the five Hazardous Substance Research Centers under grant to the U.S. EPA. This issue features articles on degradation of chlorinated phenolic compounds by anaerobic microorganisms, new techniques for incinerating hazardous waste, and building biobarriers to control the spread of hazardous wastes [November 1997, 24 pages]. A very sizable portion of the TechDirect audience is composed of site managers in federal and state agencies. If any state or federal subscriber knows about a timely and relevant technical document that may help other site managers with site assessment or remediation issues, please provide me a citation and a clue where to locate them.
