Treatment Technologies

Solidification/Stabilization

Halogenated Alkanes

Degradative solidification/stabilization with ferrous iron has been found to be effective in degrading 1,1,1-TCA, 1,1,2,2-TetCA, carbon tetrachloride, and chloroform. (Jung and Batchelor 2008)

Analysis of Dechlorination Kinetics of Chlorinated Aliphatic Hydrocarbons by Fe(II) in Cement Slurries

This study investigated the importance of chemical properties on the degradation kinetics. The rate constants for chlorinated methanes (CT, CF) and chlorinated ethanes (1,1,1-TCA) were higher than those for chlorinated ethenes (PCE, TCE, 1,1-DCE, VC) under similar experimental conditions.
